Qui survient pendant le cours de quelque chose. Cet événement intercurrent déjoua leurs projets (LITTRÉ). Même les voisins et les membres d'une même famille [dans les grands centres] sont moins souvent et moins régulièrement en contact, séparés qu'ils sont à chaque instant par la masse des affaires et des personnes intercurrentes (DURKHEIM, Divis. trav., 1893, p. 285).
— MÉD. (Complication, maladie) intercurrente. Qui survient pendant le cours d'une autre maladie. Le malade va sombrer dans une sénilité précoce et meurt dans un tableau de coma myxœdémateux ou le plus souvent est emporté par une infection intercurrente (QUILLET Méd. 1965, p. 473).
